Kerry sashays into 2nd Amendment territory
We've seen him as hunter, as trap shooter, and in his 'Minuteman' pose. John Kerry has courted the center-right. Now he courts the center-left and beyond. The assault weapons ban is scheduled to expire on Monday. Kerry said if W is serious about terrorism, he would extend the ban another 10 years.
"Keep everybody happy, at least some of the time, if not at different times" -- JFKerry Campaign Playbook.
"In the al-Qaida manual on terror, they were telling people to go out and buy assault weapons, to come to America and buy assault weapons," Kerry said.
Yeah, you guys leave your warrens in the bomb-pocked hills of Kabul and the slums of Sadr City and get cha guns he-yuh! Come to America and get cha guns he-yuh!
What poppy-cock! All of the heavy combat we've witnessed in this war on terrorism has been elsewhere in the world. The AK-47 Kalishnikov fully automatic rifle, and its myriad variants are the terrorist's small arm of choice. They don't buy American. Besides, they prefer somewhat more powerful weapons when in America. Things such as fully-loaded and fueled commercial airliners, or Ryder vans packed with tons of volatile explosives.
"I've handled all different kinds of guns and I've gone out and I've shot - I've shot birds and deer and you name it," Kerry said Friday night during a rally in Allentown, Pa. "And I believe in the Second Amendment. But I'll tell you this - I have never thought about going hunting with an assault weapon, with a weapon of war."
Does this man sound like a sportsman to you?
