Steyn Shines as Kerry Whines

Mark Steyn must be read. He is one of the greatest writers in print, or elsewhere, on the planet today. He is Mark Twain, Will Rogers, H.L. Mencken, and Oscar Wilde rolled into one. This election, and Kerry, has kicked his writing up a notch.

His latest article on Kerry's pitiful attempts to recapture lost momentum is well worth the read.

The way things are going, Democrats seem likely to be launching the post-election catastrophic-defeat vicious-recriminations phase of the campaign round about Sept. 12.
At any rate, less than 60 minutes after President Bush gave a sober, graceful, droll and moving address, Kerry decided to hit back. In the midnight hour, he climbed out of his political coffin, and before his thousands of aides could grab the garlic from Teresa's kitchen and start waving it at him, he found himself in front of an audience and started giving a speech. As in Vietnam, he was in no mood to take prisoners: ''I have five words for Americans,'' he thundered. ''This is your wake up call!''

I generally feel the same as you about NPR. However, I find it difficult not to tune in on the way to work. Long ago, I took the stories with a grain of salt; they are invariably slanted left. At times, I got downright emotional (with myself, since I am alone in the car).

You want to scream, "why don't you spend more time on each side of the argument?" Oh well. I came to the conclusion these NPR employees mean well...they're just biased. Read: exposed.

Nevertheless, there are a few apolitical stories that NPR presents in superb fashion. I wait for these. I will not close my mind to the good that exists in all spheres of life, including National Public Radio.

Thanks for your comment.
