Back at the Keyboard

I am back home. For three days, I quickly scanned the left-leaning USAToday. Good gosh! I had no idea how partisan that national publication is! The paper is in the groove with National Public Radio! To read that publication alone, one comes away with the simple conclusion that Bush's administration is ... well, not good. JFKerry is the salvation to America's woes.

One must always remember -- never forget -- that publications are comprised of people with bias. It is inescapable, absolutely. I feel sorry for people who get their news and opinion from one source, or even two. I feel sorry for them because, at least in the USAToday example, everything they see beyond it, e.g., a presidential debate, is so thoroughly colored over that they cannot truly see the other side of the coin.

You may vote according to your belief, but I believe you cannot cast that vote intelligently without having digested the debate from both sides of the argument. Otherwise, you are simply on one side of the stadium, yelling for your team without regard for what they are fighting for.

As I heard from one radio source today: Kerry is doing great! Never mind that the president has successfully prosecuted two wars, brought the country back from both the catastrophic dot.com crash of 2000 and the 9/11 attacks, and prevented further attacks on the homeland -- the challenger has the better debating skills. Hey, that equalizes everything.

Reality v. Rhetoric (nothing more).
