Freudian projection
Much has been written about 'the analog brownshirts' (a blogospherian term, in response to the widely published Gore-rant 'digital brownshirts'). A significant number of reported incidents of violence against RNC facilities have been logged. Dems, albeit radical ones, have been very fond of labeling W as 'Hitler', and decrying the rise of 'fascism' in America. Numerous articles and public pronouncements bemoan the 'new climate of fear' in America. Performers are especially vocal about it. Yet, the violence - that which is real, orchestrated, and oft-times mob oriented - is coming from the left.
Lester Dent, a conservative writer in the San Francisco area, has an excellent article at ChronWatch which touches and concerns this most disturbing of developments in the United States. In part:
A few souls, myself included, believe that if W is re-elected, conditions are not going to improve, and that orchestrated and random criminal acts will continue to grow more prevalent, as embittered leftists fall back on principles of anarchy.
One website is dedicated to chronicling Dem violence and vandalism in the Minn-St Paul area. Expect more to crop up elsewhere.
Said Captain Ed: While I'm certain that a couple of local hacks will eventually use this occasion to wax poetic about the long and glorious history of organized labor in this [Milwaukee] area, the truth is that the AFL-CIO and the Democrats have started a deliberate campaign of intimidation to keep Republicans from volunteering for this campaign. It's ugly, and the people who do such things are ugly and should be called out as such. If this represents the face of the Democrats, then their earlier accusations that Bush is the new Hitler can only be called a classic case of Freudian projection.

The third reason I believe you don’t see a lot of Bush signs and stickers may be the most significant, at least in the urban areas. Fear. A number of people I’ve talked to are afraid of putting a Bush sticker on their car because they worry that it will attract vandalism. The same with yard signs.
This is not an unreasonable apprehension. We have seen for years the violence of the left. We’ve seen the vandalism of businesses during ''peace marches,'' the wanton destruction in protests against the WTO and World Bank aimed at shutting down commerce and punishing capitalism. We have seen cars torched, windows broken, and counter-protestors assaulted. We have heard of ''environmentalists'' who spike trees hoping to maim loggers, and building developments and car lots burned. We have seen ''enlightened liberals'' send letter bombs to those they disagree with. Whenever there is a big march or rally (and leftists can mount huge rallies), we see the wake of refuse they leave behind along with the attendant property damage. I was struck, when watching the ''Vietnam Veterans for Truth'' rally in Washington on September 11 this year (miss it? I don’t think the networks or dailies mentioned it…) how the emcee asked everyone to pick up after themselves when they left ''or else we will have to clean it up.'' The leftits [sic] let the taxpayers pay for their cleanup.
