A comment of sorts on the photo. Do you have any good links I can go to regarding the alleged overuse of persons in the reserves and/or calling back persons who "retired"? Recently I was in a minor spat with a good friend regarding the "backdoor draft." My main response was that our volunteer system has been set up the way it is for a long time, that the fine print has always kept open the possibility of being called back or an obligation being extended, and that this is the first time that we've gone to the fine print. (I have a friend who finished up his obligations and was called back about two years thereafter. My basic understanding of the call back possibility is based on conversations with him.) Also, in the debate of last week my friend contended that the reserves are being sent over to the Mideast without sufficient training. She relayed a story of a woman who was called back who had gained 20 pounds and was well into another chapter of her life. I responded that the reserves undergo a few months of training and that they will be assigned to a job that they can handle. Perhaps the reserves are having to learn more how to deal with a different type of warfare but they are not just being sent over without any training.
Your comments and suggested links are welcome.

Blackfive is a milblogger, and this post was in response to a media flurry on 'retirees' being called up. He also includes a few links, plus there are lots of 'trackbacks', so you can probably get plenty edumacated quick.
ps I think you answered your friend very well. Maybe Ollie North would have done better...
